About Me

Grieverjoe (Jose Alvarez) is NOT a whiny emo as his name would suggest. He's an IT student with a love for art.

Chibi Laele

Working on page 2 of the comic. Had to take a break from drawing obnoxiously attractive Middle-Eastern men to draw a cute chibi for the wife

Kigurumi Laele

Wife: "You know those adult-sized Pikachu pajamas?"
Me: "Not really."
Wife: "Laele would totally wear those."
Me: "...I think I know what I'm drawing tonight..."

WHO WANTS FISH TACOS

So, in Monster Hunter, they have this weapon that's a frozen swordfish and you use it as a sword (sadly, in game, you swing the fish from the nose). I was playing and using that weapon, then I asked my wife if her character would use a fish as a weapon.
"Oh, yeah, totally. She would scream, 'WHO WANTS FISH TACOS!' before smacking people with it."

Watch out, monsters!

Garam

"You know... it wouldn't kill you to smile every now and again..."

Portrait for my wife's birthday, of one of her characters.
I tried to add a bit of grain to simulate a natural canvas texture, but I fear I might've gone a bit overboard. Here's a lighter version

Ruins concept

Some quick concept art for my wife of the ruins that feature heavily in one of her books. :)
Trying to be more explorative of landscapes, since I have little experience/success with anything non-person.
On the other hand, check out that badass gesture on the left, there!

Huitzilopochtli WIP 3

One more pass, I think.
This far along and I still don't know where I'm going with this...
Fail.

Huitzilopochtli

Still working on this guy. Trying to simplify my values a bit and not worry too much with the rendering until all the planning is done.
This is why it's important to have a plan before you jump in, so you don't spend all your time going back and fixing mistakes over and over.
Plan your drawings, kids!

Riven - League of Legends

Riven from League of Legends.
I am not familiar with LoL, nor its characters, but I like swords, so there.

Birthday sketch: Royal Guard

Royal Guard birthday sketch for a friend.
I decided not to use the original character as reference, as I don't think he looks manly enough. :|

Sera

My wife asked me to sketch up a concept of one of her characters. These are the guidelines she gave me.
-Cliche archer gear
-Cliche mage staff
-Two knives
-Elf
-African
-Thin and tall
-Lithe-looking

...and here she is.
I might do a better sketch of her in the future
