Apple
You're eating an apple. Nothing out of the ordinary, just a regular red
apple. You bite into it, it tastes fresh and crisp. Really sweet. You
chew it, swallow it, and think nothing of it.
You go to take a second bite, and then you look at it.
Photoshop CS6, about an hour.

The first one is from reference. The last two are from imagination.

Expressions after Vilppu
More work from NMA, more Vilppu. Expressions, this time.
The ones on the right are from a model, about 30-45 seconds each. The best way I can explain it is to capture the expression quick and loose, almost like the gesture of the face. You can always go back and refine it later.

Vilppu arms study
Recently signed up for New Master's Academy. For my first week, I'm doing upper arm studies after Glenn Vilppu.
Good stuff. You should check them out. :)

Fencing gesture study
I've been looking at some Disney art, and I love how the animators
capture flow and motion by exaggerating the gesture. Decided to give it a
shot by using some fencing poses as reference.
I think I need to exaggerate a bit more. What do you guys think?

Studies 20160426
Quick studies for tonight, from Croquis Cafe.
Taking some of Scott Eaton's advice, instead of trying to do the full figure in the allotted time, I instead picked parts of the model to try and capture.

Liam Cunningham
Decided to break out the pencil and sketchbook for this one.
Liam Cunningham, about 1.5 hours total. Reference used: http://ia.media-imdb.com/images/M/MV5BMjEyMDM0NzQ5NV5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwNDkyODQyNw@@._V1_SX640_SY720_.jpg
Did you guys know he totally looks like Davos Seaworth? Huh...

I think I had an epiphany as far as hands construction goes, which is
nice. I wrote some notes, but let me know if you can't read them.
Also, decided to look at painting skin a bit more in depth, so I used a bit of Niklas Jansson, and a bit of Lauren Cannon's skin tutorial. You can find part 1 here

This is technically a couple of days lumped together, but I didn't draw as much because I got sick.
Anyway, top is a couple head sketches, along with a bit of control drills for myself. The ones labelled 'hand' and 'shoulder' are what I used to draw, respectively.
On the bottom, a couple feet studies. Feet are inching along into the category of "body part I can't draw at all", up there with hands.
